Why did the Army even send this?

Did they expect that war somehow went from hell to a great learning experience?

The worst part about PTSD, are the dreams....err, nightmares. And not that they happen, but even "if" they stop, you live in dread and fear that they will creep back in...Something the counselors teach us when going through treatment, is that we arent being helped in a manner to stop (in this case) the nightmares, but at best, control them.

Back when it was at its worst for me, I would wake up crying in the middle of the night, freaking out at any little sound or noise or shadow I saw. I eventually got into the "healthy" habit of drinking away the sorrows, to the point where I did 2 liters of tequila a night. This started seeping into my work life, needing to stay drunk just to get through the day, because I knew what was waiting for me if I were to sleep.

Anywho, this shit sucks. Even more so when you are dealing with it alone. So if you know someone who is going through this. Please dont ostracize them for drinking like crazy, or push them to the side because they dont fit what you consider to be "human"...Please just sit next to them...Just be there. In all my times I dealt with that shit, that is all I really wanted, but never had.

My uncle wont talk about Vietnam either, the only thing hes ever said was that when he stepped off the huey to walk to base camp the guy behind him was shot in the head by a sniper immediately.
