Mine is about to turn 9 and I still haven't gotten to that point yet. But almost every time I mow, I lay the seeds... "You'll be doing this soon enough"... "You know I used to mow when I was about your age"...

That said, I remember my dad did pay me like $5 or so per mow, so I probably will do something similar. We would ask for money anyways, mowing was a way to say, okay, mow the lawn a couple times and you'll have enough for that.

Edit: There is nothing like a comment like this to reveal that, hey, we all have different backgrounds and parenting styles. For me, positive reinforcement is part of what I grew up on and one tool I use when parenting my kids. I'm personally fine with my parenting choices and I hope you all are fine with yours. Cheers.

Right after the photo was taken he put his drink down and rushed over because kids are shit at mowing. My dad basically had to hold my hand when I started! I'm happy for you!

I remember mowing the lawn. When I first started I wasn't strong enough to start the mower, so my dad or mom would.

I also remember about 2 weeks after I left for college they bought a riding lawn mower.
