First Poster for Horror-Western 'The Pale Door' - Follows a gang of cowboys who seek shelter in a ghost town after a disastrous train robbery. They soon discover that the town is home to a coven of witches and blood-thirsty wolves.
The film follows a gang of cowboys and a mysterious woman who seek shelter in a seemingly uninhabited ghost town after a disastrous train robbery. Seeking help for their wounded leader they are surprised to stumble upon a welcoming brothel in the town’s square but soon discover that the town is home to a coven of witches and blood-thirsty wolves.
“It’s 3:10 To Yuma meets The Descent, but doused, and then set on fire with psychological horror,”.
Sounds interesting. Wish they did more western horror. Actually, I wish for more western movies in general!
Edit: There’s been a ton of recommendations in this thread. Not all of them are western horror. Some are modern western, video games, authors/books, regular western, etc. I’ve listed all of them and some of my own for anyone interested. Thanks for all the recommendations:
Logan
Dead Birds
Bone Tomahawk
The Burrowers
High Plains Drifter
Ravenous
Near Dark
Brawl in Cellblock 99 (not western, recommended if you like Bone Tomahawk)
Dragged Across Concrete (not western, recommended if you like Bone Tomahawk)
The Missing
Any Taylor Sheridan movie/series (Hell or Highwater, Sicario, Sicario 2, Wind River, Yellowstone)
Godless (Netflix series)
The Wind
Tremors
Hateful Eight
Django
In a Valley of Violence
Grim Prairie Tales
Prospect

Magnificent Seven
Brimstone

The VVitch
La Llorona
Blood Meridian (great book that perhaps can’t be properly adapted into film)
The Apostle
The Son (TV series)
Deadwood (series and movie)
Justified
The Sixth Gun (comic series)
From Dusk Til Dawn
Brokeback Mountain
El Topo
Cowboys Vs Aliens
Jeremiah Johnson

Writer/Director here. I’m actually on set for our final day of filming. I described it in a previous interview that this was 3:10 to Yuma meets The Descent and that still feels appropriate.
