A little backstory:

Like I mentioned, I do photography on the side to pay for school. The girl I just took these photos for is my good friend's sister in law (so I'm not close to her). My good friend (orange colored in the post) texted me saying had she will pay for her SILs maternity photos since SIL can't afford them. I agreed, and I told her I would not charge full price for the photos because she's been my friend for years. I asked friend how she would want me to message her about it, "should I just say they're free?" Friend responded, "whatever you want to say". So, I said to SIL not to worry about the price and I won't charge her anything for them (not a lie, I didn't charge her). SIL chose not to do maternity photos. That's okay.

SIL messages me 3 days before her baby is due and asks me if I can do newborn photos in the hospital. I agree and tell her my price, which is standard for all newborn photos: $90. A free CD, no cap on time, unlimited outfit changes and as many photos as I think are the best of the best. Newborn sessions last maybe 45-60 mins and I get about 10-12 good photos out of them. Photos are always published on my website that day and they get their CD within 3 days.

She got over 25 photos. I was there for over 2 hours taking photos. I edited for 5 hours. It's exhausting and that $90 was WELL earned.

EDIT: when she talks about "the pictures I didn't even send her" she expected me to send her EVERY pose and shot I took (over 300). She wanted two specific ones that I did not include in the portfolio because they were not up to standard to me. Which is fine, I will send you those photos if you really want them. But she gets upset at me for not sending the photos to her until I received payment! I am not sending photos without payment first, no matter how "Christian" you are

EDIT 2: Thank you all for the support and MAKING ME FEEL BETTER! I'm definitely the kind of person who can't stand when other people are mad at me. She blocked me on Facebook, so I have no idea how she's going to get her CD and 2 photos she demanded. I will also DEFINITELY have her sign my contract next time as that was a bad move on my part for forgetting it at home. Thank you all so much, again.

$90 is a STEAL. Don’t let her get you down.. you did way too much work for little money

Always have clients sign a contract before starting work. It will set clear expectations and deliverables for all involved. ALWAYS. HAVE. A. CONTRACT.
