This is a cool post and I like it a lot (although I wonder if the same could be said of fully evolved Pokémon) but I wonder if part of these design choices were made because Pokémon shifted to moving models in 5th gen and then 3D models in 6th gen and more details make life exponentially harder.

I think they both have their place but personally i prefer the more detailed edgy original style. Zorua in the oldschool style looks awesome
