My dad is a tv editor. He was editing Led Zeppelin’s concert together. He gets to meet a lot of singers and bands this way. Anyway, he got to show Robert Plant what he made. Robert came into the room with a bottle of Jack Daniels, sat in my dad’s chair, put his boots up on the desk and said “hit it” and my dad played it for him. Yeah that’s my dad’s Led Zeppelin story.

Last night I was playing Catchphrase and had to make my partner say “Stairway to Heaven.” the clue I gave was “It’s the Led Zeppelin song everyone knows.”

She answered “War Pigs.”

I gave the most deadpan “No.” in history.

I met Plant last year in Norfolk Virginia the morning after a show. He and his band were staying at the same hotel as we were. We went down for breakfast in the morning and the waitress sat us at a table next to Plant and the band. We chatted briefly about the show and politely left them alone. As they left suddenly someone grabbed and shook the hell out of my chair. It was Plant telling me to have a great day.

edit: The man that runs security for Plant when he is in the states is this enormous bald man with tons of tats. I posted a pic on FB of Plant and this guy walking into the hotel after the show and a friend in California who is from England sent me back a pic of the security guy and him drinking together at a bar in LA. Apparently they are from the same town in England.
