This is a legitimate thing. There was a guy at the airport I worked at who would buy a first class refundable ticket on British Airways to London on a regular basis when his wife would fly out regularly. He would check in with no baggage, head up to the lounge where he would have dinner and then afterwards request a refund, which he was fully entitled to as his ticket was full fare and flexible. The staff had no issue and knew exactly what he was doing.
I’ve never eaten or flown in first class. Is airport food any good? I mean, free food is always good because it is free. But, is the food worth all the effort?
