I had a Mexican hairless named Hairy/Harry. Got him when I was 3 years old and he lived to be 17. He was awesome. We'd play tag. He would run around the house all fast and I'd try to catch him, then he'd try to get me. We'd take turns chasing each other. Loved that guy.

Interesting fact about these dogs, the hairlessness is due to a single mutation. And the allele of the gene that makes them hairless is autosomal dominant but recessive lethal.

This means that if two hairless Mexican dogs mate, 1/4 of their offspring will die, 1/2 will be hairless, and 1/4 will actually have hair like normal dogs.

But because the lethal offspring die before birth, they are often reabsorbed in the womb, making 1/3 of the litter hairy and 2/3 of the litter hairless.
