Snopes points out that she hasn't actually been selected for anything, she's just enrolled in space camp. There is literally no selection process, that's just an actual camp.
Also, she was promoted by Mars One, which is just the simplest scams. Their Mars tickets are just a Brooklyn Bridge scheme. Which is a fancy way of saying that they are selling something they don't have at all.
