I lived in a community house. There was a shared washing machine in shared shower room. Everyone kept their own detergents next to the washing machine in a corner so that they were in no ones way. One day they had all disappeared. I put a sign asking where did they go. A woman had thrown away about 20 bottles/boxes of detergents because she said they were a fire hazard... I made her but me a new bottle.
WTF. They aren't your parent. It's one thing to tell you they aren't healthy & try to persuade you to quit, and a whole other thing to discard it in an attempt to control you.
