Sen. Chris Coons said Monday Republicans are privately saying special counsel Robert Mueller’s report details President Trump engaging in obstruction of justice.

In an interview with CNN’s New Day, Mr. Coons said, “Those who have read the Mueller report cannot avoid the conclusion that the President and some of his absolutely poor advisers engaged in profoundly disappointing, reprehensible conduct that would rise to the level of obstruction of justice if he were anyone other than the President.”

When host Alisyn Camerota asked if Republicans were thinking that, Mr. Coons said “yes” because of “conversations.”

“There are very few who would be able to say publicly that this conduct is reprehensible for a president,” the Delaware Democrat said.

Mr. Coons said Republicans are not calling for impeachment privately saying he has “not spoken to a single Republican senator who would vote to remove the president.”

“Many have privately expressed concerns about what was revealed in the Mueller report in part because of the gap between what Attorney General Barr characterized what was in the Mueller report and what was actually in the Mueller report, for those who have taken the time to read through it,” he said.

Republicans will soon claim to be victims of Trump instead of the ones actively supporting him soon.

I have no doubt that privately, there are a shit ton of Republicans who hate and fear Trump and what he represents.

The problem is that what he represents, specifically, is the utter capitulation of their party to cult of personality and anti-intellectual idiocy, and until Republicans are willing to say this publicly - and vote for impeachment and removal - their public silence is complicity.

You are not an honest or reasonable person if you actually read the Mueller Report and reached the conclusion that Trump did not obstruct justice.
