Euron in Books: Kills his way to what he wants

Euron on the show: Gets kill stolen by a ceiling

Book Euron would have even given OP show Euron a modicum of sense as he’s portrayed as a completely psychotic dark sorcerer and outstanding boat captain that has been to places no man has ever been before.

I’m not a fan of writers explaining away inconsistencies or plot holes with “it was MaGiC” but Euron casting some sort of spell to hide his boats from Dany would have made infinitely more sense than whatever the fuck that scene in episode 4 was. And if they just would have worked his “dragon horn” (not sure that was the name in the book... it’s been some time) into the show him yeeting Rhaegal out of the sky like it’s nothing would similarly have made so much more sense than a fucking Scorpion on a boat with a propulsion energy of 48 million Newtons (3x the propulsion energy of a rocket booster. no joke. Someone did the math)

Then again... they forgot (I know, overused meme, but I mean this sincerely) one of the “coolest” aspects of Eurons fleet: That everyone on his ships is mute. He rips out the tongues of his crew (his ship is even named “The Silence”). They even showed Euron’s men cutting out the tongues of his crew at the beginning of season 7. In season 8 they all miraculously grew their tongues back.

Euron is such an interesting character in the books and I feel sorry for the shit script Pilou Asbaek was handed. He did a great job with what he was given, but they still completely massacred the character.

Edit: Here’s the link to the Ballistae physics.

As u/Nathan_P_Charles pointed out further below, the most powerful propulsion device created by man, the Saturn V rocket, sports some sloppy 33 million Newtons.

In other words: Not only would the bolts have landed somewhere in the middle of Essos, the recoil would have yeeted his boat all the way back to Kings Landing. At least explains the fast travel, I guess.
