There are lots of call-replies to say in order to get a class's attention and have them focus. Kids like the sayings, and they like yelling things. Some that I've heard are:

-123, eyes on me / 1 2 eyes on you

-hands on top / that means stop (they put their hands on their heads)

-waterfall/woossshhhhhh (hands mimic waterfall)

-macaroni and cheese / everybody freeze

And others that I cant remember off the top of my head.

Before becoming a full-teacher, I subbed a 3rd grade class for 7 months (regular teacher was having cancer treatments.) I got mine to do the same with: Me: Goodness GRACIOUS! Kids: Great Balls of Fire!!!

It let them expend some excess energy, and I would get their undivided attention for about 10 minutes.

My 5th grade teacher had something similar he called "Penmanship position" when he called it we would all drop what we were doing and get in the nearest seat, feet on flat on the floor, toes and knees together, hands parallel and flat on the desk looking forward silently.

You weren't allowed to move or say anything until he told you to relax. Usually he'd go around and try to make somebody laugh and of course we all saw it as a big game.

Many years later I am still super impressed with how he was able to make 29 ten year olds snap into position with military precision on command.
