Trebuchets are the answer to all problems.
Seriously though getting to space with chemical rockets is fucking costly, a rally in of some kind would help.

Trebuchets wont get us to space, sadly. They'd exert too much force on the ship being launched that it would break apart before it could even get free of the sling. Thats why we settled on rockets, because they're weak enough to get the job done.
