You’ve hit the nail on the head. Hulk’s story arc has a great ending. We see in Ragnarok that he wants to be liked and accepted. In Endgame he has achieved that by embracing the ‘puny Banner’ side of himself.

You have to remember that he still thinks sokovia and ultron just happened, and after the fight with the hulk buster suit earth did kind of hate him.
