Oh poor Pilou... I get the sense he thought that he was going to slowly get to transform into Book Euron. He was so pumped to be one of the Big Bad Guys when he started.
That's totally fair. While I'm sure he's pumped to be on the show, it's got to be frustrating for him to play such a one-dimensional character. Someone joked that Euron is basically a walking plot device to make Cersei stronger, and that's more or less correct. We know almost nothing about his backstory or his motivations beyond just being a horny pirate who wants to have sex with Cersei. As an actor, I think he's making the most out of what the writers gave him. It's just that they didn't give him much. Interesting to see more and more members of the cast being honest.
