Soon, Chris Brown wrote a scathing comment on Instagram, calling CHVRCHES the “type of people I wish walked in front of a speeding bus full of mental patients,”

“Keep groveling over you [sic] own insecurities and hatred,” he added.

CHVRCHES singer Lauren Mayberry later addressed this controversy, speaking to their crowd in Texas on Saturday night and revealing they only wanted to stand up for what was right.

“But we weren’t just deciding to pick on Chris Brown for the sake of it. I was like, ‘I don’t know, maybe domestic abuse might be wrong,’” Mayberry explained. “Now I’m gonna have to invest in some fucking bulletproof tutus, because apparently that does not go down well with the Breezy fans.”

“We were like, ‘maybe don’t promote serial convicted violence to kids, to young people,’ and then they were like ‘you know what we’re gonna do? We’re gonna rape you and shoot you.’ You kind of proved the point.”

I am not staying in my own home when we finish tour because the threats we have received have reached such a scale. We have to have the police at our shows now. If that’s what I deserve for saying mainstream music should be more morally conscious, then so be it. You’re right. — Lauren Mayberry (@laurenevemay) April 29, 2019

And again, it is not you who is having to have police presence at shows and advance security in their actual own real life outside of a band persona. — Lauren Mayberry (@laurenevemay) April 29, 2019

Now, Lauren Mayberry has revealed that the threats and hatred received by fans of Chris Brown have taken a personal toll, with the singer avoiding her own home, and the group increasing security at their shows.

“I am not staying in my own home when we finish tour because the threats we have received have reached such a scale,” Mayberry explained. “We have to have the police at our shows now.”

While Chris Brown is yet to make any further comment on CHVRCHES’ recent statements, or even publicly ask his fans to call off their campaign of hatred, we can only hope that Lauren Mayberry and co. don’t come to any serious harm for standing up for what is right.

I'm not familiar with Mayberry's music, but you can't really argue with that. Fuck Chris Brown and fuck his dipshit fans.

Fans making death threats still blows my mind. I dunno why people get so fired up over comments made about their favorite artist.
