What threw me for a loop was when I was in Italy. I’m not exactly sure how it is for every individual or if it’s a sort of general rule, but a lot of people didn’t like to have you hand your cash directly into their hand. A lot of places had little trays you would place your bills or coins in. They would also return any change to you in the same tray.
Even worse when you work at a pub and the patrons put the money on the bar and slide it over to you through a puddle of split beer and tissues ESPECIALLY IF I’M QUITE OBVIOUSLY HOLDING OUT MY HAND
