A spokesperson for the cathedral told Le Monde that the entire frame of the historic cathedral's roof (pictured here before the blaze) had caught fire.

By 9.30pm there were claims from fire fighters around the cathedral that the priceless stained glass Rose windows in the Cathedral had been destroyed.

It is the cathedral of the Archdiocese of Paris, and is visited by some 12million people every year and is the most visited historic monument in Europe.

Kings Announce Luke Walton as Head Coach

Today, Sacramento Kings General Manager Vlade Divac named Luke Walton as the team’s new head coach.

“I have known Luke for many years and I am so excited to welcome him and his family to the Sacramento Kings,” said Kings General Manager Vlade Divac.

Walton joins the Kings after spending the previous three seasons as head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, where he improved the team’s win total each season while simultaneously developing their young roster. »

Montreal teen who dreams of joining police vows to fight religious-symbols ban

The Quebec government's proposed Bill 21, which would ban public workers in positions of authority, including teachers, lawyers and police officers, from wearing religious symbols, has only strengthened her son's resolve.

Quebec Premier François Legault has said he'd consider compromising on some aspects of the bill — but not the prohibition on police wearing religious symbols.

In a statement, Montreal police communications commander Jonathan Martel said the SPVM is closely following the progress of Bill 21 but hasn't taken a position on religious symbols. »
