Besides, I’d happily pay a little more in taxes if it meant having available, affordable (or free) healthcare and lower education costs, instead of the failing social security system that won’t even be around by the time I’m 65. (Which, fun fact, isn’t even the official retirement age anymore.)
Even if I wouldn’t use the healthcare or education benefits that I’d be taxed for (which I would, but that’s irrelevant), I’d still gladly pay toward it to make sure others have access to whatever they need. God forbid things not just be a selfish matter for once.
What happened during that war the Boomers had when they were young?
Something about forcing young poor men to die in Vietnam so young rich kids could go to college and complain about sending poor men to die in Vietnam so the rich kids could make money screwing the country over and telling poor people fifty years later to "suck-it-up-buttercup". Or something?
Millennial here who lost his job after eight years as a professional engineer with a masters degree. I looked for work for 7 months and the best I could get was as a substitute teacher making ~$12 an hour. Now I’ve emigrated to another country with universal health care and am pursuing a PhD (and getting paid to do so). So long America, it’s been nice knowing you.
