An 11 year-old girl was abducted by her father on her birthday and later found murdered. While the police were still looking for her, 89 people called 911 to complain about an Amber Alert.
FWIW, people also complained about getting the alert despite not living anywhere near where the girl was found. However, a caller very far away who got the alert found the father's car after hearing the alert's details and helped police find and arrest him. The father later succumbed to self-inflicted injuries after a couple days in hospital.
