Eyes and their connection to being human are a recurring motif in both Blade Runner movies. Jared Leto's character is the head of the Wallace Corporation, the successor-in-interest to the defunct Tyrell Corporation. Wallace is blind while Tyrell, the last human to manufacture replicants, died by having his eye gouged out. ---NSFW
