When i was s server i use to give the best service possible to those ppl other servers assumed didn’t tip, and would take the tables other servers didn’t want. Most of the time it worked wonderfully and i was tipped 20% or more plus compliments to the managers. Some times it didn’t but i found treating “these ppl” really well also resulted in a surprised but positive reaction from the customers, where you could sense they weren’t use to being treated well. Which always made me feel good

This reminds me. I used to work at a department store. I would offer to help anyone who walked in (it was super boring and our area did not get a lot of customers). The people who came in right after work in dirty construction clothes were the ones who spent the most money and didn’t return their purchases. The housewives who treated shopping like a hobby would return most of their purchases. It amazed me that my coworkers would turn their noses up at people who didn’t ”look like they had money,” especially since they had been there for years and I was fairly new ( I left after a year). Also, it’s not like we were making a lot of money and we had quotas to meet.

I had a waitress ignore my table practically the whole night and then she had the nerve to circle the tip percentages at the bottom of the receipt.
