Genuine question and something i've never really noticed or thought about. Why does Tywin wear the hand's pin on the right? Tyrion and Ned both wear it on the left, is it to symbolise he in fact holds the real power?

Tyrion always admired his father and tried to emulate his better characteristics- possibly to prove he was as much Tywin's son as Jaime ('all dwarves are bastards to their fathers'). It just made it all the more heart-breaking when Tyrion finally was forced to realise his father was a waste of oxygen.
