Exactly. Americans are so quick to give them an exaggerated "thank you for your service", but when they end up on the streets in need of social policies to help them get their lives together.... nope, wallets closed "get a job". It's the biggest lie in the US, they couldn't care less about veterans and that's why you see so many on the streets.
I swear to god I was in a Walmart in Edmonton years ago with my cousin who was in uniform. A man with a cowboy hat and his small kid comes up to him, extends his hand to shake it, looks him dead in the eye like he’s about to cry and says “ thank you for keeping us safe”. I almost died laughing but my cuz took it in stride
The military worship here is just as obscene as it is in America. My cousin has never even left Alberta lol
