I got a flat tire in an unfamiliar area, these men stopped and offered to help. They ended up doing all the work and wouldn’t accept money when I offered! Bonus: my lil man in the car keeping me safe from strangers

I used to do this with my dad when I was younger. I would always make him pull over so we could help whoever was stranded.

Then in our town there was a string of robberies. From people who would pull over and pretend to be stranded. And the second you turn your back to put hands on the vehicle, they’d rob you at gun point and take your vehicle too.

After those stories came out, I never stopped to help another person again. It’s a shame that people like that exist and scare good people away from helping those truly in need.

I had something similar happen, I ran over a piece of junk that fell off the truck in front of me and shredded a tire. I had to pull over in an industrial park to try to change it. It was HOT (south Texas in the middle of July, it was 100+) and there was no shade, and here I am in my work skirt and blouse and heels trying and failing to change a tire in the heat. A truck full of construction workers passed by and stopped to help me out. They had me sit in their truck in the AC and gave me a bottle of water from their cooler, and had the tire changed in about ten minutes. They wouldn’t take payment either, just said that they were doing what they hope another guy would do for their wives/girlfriends/daughters if she was in trouble.

All four were super sweet guys. Hope they’re doing well.
