One thing I don't get. I work at a higher end restaurant and we serve Star Bucks coffee. And employees can help themselves to coffee(its a necessity). We have all the same flavorings and cream and whip cream available. Even in house made caramel. But these servers all come in with Star Bucks drinks EVERY.FUCKING.DAY.

TLDR: Dude bought a redbull that lead to a discharge from the Air Force.

Story time: In the Air Force you have to take multiple tests (depending on career field) in order to make E5 or higher. All branches of military have the mentally of 'if you're not 15 minutes early, you're late' so most of us know to show up on time. Well, one guy knew he was running behind on getting to his testing appointment but still thought it was a good idea to stop at a gas station to pick up a redbull. This made him 5 minutes late, actually late not 10 minutes early instead of 15 late, and he was denied testing. There is no retake, if you miss your appointment then you have to wait a year before testing again. He begged the commander to let him test and was told 'You chose an energy drink over your own career, clearly you're not ready to make rank'. The real shot in the foot was when he realized he was at higher tenure for E4 and since he did not promote in time, he was discharged. He literally ended his career because of an energy drink.

Edit for clarity: The appointment was at 1200 and he showed up at 1205. Leadership expects you to be there at 1145. Also, the dude was a dirt bag with a long history of getting in trouble so the commander took no pity.

Edit 2: If you miss a testing appointment only your commander can allow to test a different day and only under special circumstances like a car accident or hospitalization. Picking up a redbull was not a good reason to allow him to test.

Edit 3: whoever you are, you broke my gold cherry....I love you

Edit 4: I get 'higher tenure' is the wrong word. I'm not changing it because I dont care, you know what I mean.

"I do not mind if you come in late to work every now and then, it happens, sometimes the trains are late or life gets in the way.

I do mind if you come in to work late with a coffee in one hand and food from a cafe in the other" - My current manager.
