I was just in Thailand and hanging out with this American girl who did the same thing. After a few times I told her to quit complaining about people not knowing English... you’re in Thailand!!’

It reminds me of when I was living in Australia. I was 15 years old at the time. When we landed the embassy gave us a packet if basic info to memorize or at least keep close for reference. I did. My father apparently did not. One morning we were behind a car that was swerving all over the place, wrecked, dude opened the door and fell out with his bottle of vodka in hand. He was passed all the way out. My dad repeatedly called 911 rather than 000. I didn't realize that is what he was dialing until he started yelling "What the fuck is wrong with my phone? 911 won't connect." I reminded him it was 000, we weren't in the states. His reply was, "Well that is stupid. It should be 911." I laughed at him mercilessly and subsequently was punished because of his embarrassment for saying that. I still give him shit for that comment 20 years later.
