I had someone try to bolt on me once after I left the check on their table and walked away. I came back to the table as soon as they walked away(My spidey senses were tingling) to find them gone and no money on the table. They would have gotten away with it, but they were held up slightly, trying to navigate a lobby full of guests. I shamed the ever-living fuck out of those two assholes. I loudly said "Excuse me, but I think you forgot to pay your bill" and then just looked at them.. Every eye in the lobby turned toward them. The disapproval was palpable.

My dad dined and ditched once by accident. He was with a group of friends and they all thought someone else paid.
Its been over twenty years and my dad refuses to go back.
