In Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, when Aragorn is giving his speech in front of the black gates, his sword is suddenly tarnished before the battle commences. It's only revealed in the extended edition, that it is due to beheading the Mouth of Sauron, a scene that did not make the final cut.

The theatrical release doesn’t even show Saruman’s death, which is strange considering he’s the secondary antagonist.

This is the same for why Gandalf suddenly doesn't have a staff at the same time. The Witch King breaks it during the assault on Gondor. Another scene cut.

The makeup on the Mouth of Sauron was unreal too. Dude looked creepy as fuck.
