I was once walking into work a ways behind a new employee on his first day. I watched him walk past a piece of trash on the ground, then go pick it up, throw it away, and continue to the door, all without him seeing me. I waited until the end of his first day to let him know that I caught him being awesome because I didn’t want to make a nerve wracking day weird for him, but it made an impression on me that lasted the several years he worked for me (until I transferred out; he’s still there being a good dude like he is).

I once helped a guy jump his car, and refused to take the $20 he offered. Turned out to be my new girlfriend’s dad. I met them at this restaurant and he was like, “The guy with the jumper cables!”
