The real dominant thing to do would be to get married and then hyphenate her name. Then she would be like Emily Best-Smith and instantly become the best member of her husband's family instead of being in lifelong competition with the rest of the Bests.
I used to know a police officer who’s last name was Danger, that was pretty awesome, especially when you hear judges laughing at “constable Danger” being called to testify.
