My buddy puts up billboards for a living and is an avid disc golfer, so a group of of local discers pooled together enough money to pull this prank. He had no idea until he finished putting the billboard up.
A little bit of background: the mastermind behind this found out that the billboard company my friend works for was holding a silent auction through a non profit charity event for a billboard spot, and being the evil genius he is, he thought it would be awesome to pool together enough money to enter the auction, design a billboard with my friends face on it, and work with the guys boss (who is also a big disc golfer) to make sure my friend posted it.
After getting the spot for only $300, all of his friends and family chipped in and there was a FB group where everyone posted funny pictures to use. This one (which my friend took on my phone to see what color his eyes were) was the winner.
After months of designing and planning, it was finally go time. Me, the mastermind and my friends boss all hid behind a nearby car and watched for 10 mins as he posted the billboard, oblivious to what he was putting up. After securing the corners and sides, he noticed the basket, stepped back and saw his face and started laughing. At that point we all jumped out and started hootin/hollerin
This happened about 2 years ago and the billboard has been filling empty advertisement spots around the area ever since. My buddy just sent this selfie in a group message to all of us this morning after putting it up again. Hopefully it stays up forever!
Edit: for those wondering, the text at the botton says "A new novel by less selling author Jayson B" Also, there is video, but only on facebook, which doesnt let us download. Hopefully able to pull it from my friends iCloud tomorrow and put it on youtube.

Edit 3: since this is blowing up beyond belief... if anyone else who sees this considering giving me gold or silver, PLEASE just find a disc golf club in your area and donate that money to them instead. This post is a shining example of how this sport can bring people together for positive change. #GROWTHESPORT

Mildly annoy a person in a way that deep down shows how much they are loved by the pranksters
