Obsidian Says "The Outer Worlds" Will be Free of Microtransactions, Releases Screenshots

Obsidian Entertainment, which have recently announced their latest videogame in the form of " The Outer Worlds ", have now come out of woodwork to assuage some fears gamers might have. In an increasingly microtransaction-ridden digital world, and perhaps not helped by the Microsoft acquisition that Obsidian Entertainment has undergone, fears of microtransactions being added to the game that's expected to be a Fallout spiritual successor naturally grew. Timothy Cain, original creator of Fallout, in an interview with Gamestar, put those thoughts to rest. He said, in no uncertain terms that "There are no microtransactions in the game. You buy it once and then enjoy it forever."New screenshots and details for the game have also been made known, including an interesting "Flaw" system, which pairs with the now well-known "Perk" to give players debuffs for some of their "weak traits" during gameplay in exchange for perk points. Companions with their own motivations and storylines, choice-driven gameplay with some emergent dynamics, are all part of the recipe. That first screenshot, if I wasn't told it was for The Outer Worlds, I would have sworn I was looking at No Man's Sky.

Seeing that big object activates my megalophobia, but I don't want to pass up this game. Unreal Engine 4, Obsidian, Fallout-like, graphics look great, and hopefully Open World(doesn't have to be vast but bigger is better for me, I love to explore), many positives. I am perfectly OK with wooden bethesda animations as long as the character development, world building, and player interactions are all meaningful and well implemented. The OG mass effect has wooden animations by todays standards, so does new vegas, yet both are still fantastic RPGs. The graphics and gameplay of the OG baulders gate games have aged about as well as milk, yet they are still fantastic adventure games.

I really hope this is good. The last few years have been disappointing from a games release standpoint, and while single player RPGs have done better then some other genres, having more is always great. The wooden faces with the thousand mile stare, and when speaking only the mouth move. Moving on to the rest of the model this it's like they tried but they missed the mark at the subtle movements that people make because of breathing, maintaining balance, etc. This is stuff that can be addressed with cheap mo-cap. I lock on little shit like that, and a the reason I can never get past a couple hours into any FO by Beth. Now, OW joins them in company. Microtransactions on a single player game has got to be one of the worst ideas a developer can think of. Not only does it break immersion, it just shoves an unnecessary amount of content that does nothing to augment the experience. I have this problem with Assassin Creed: Origins. There you can spend real money on experience points, in-game currency, weapons, and outfits (which are all cosmetic). As much as I hate pay-to-win multiplayer games, on single player, you don't even win against real people.

The Outer Worlds looks really cool, like a mixture of Mass Effect and Fallout.
