It’s like how steam defined piracy as a service problem. They gave people /usually/ affordable games, made it super easy to get it downloading and play with your friends.

If it was more fractured as it used to be, the marketplace I mean, people will pirate again. People travel down the path of least resistance and if it’s easiest to pirate and all the content is in one place, they would probably opt for that.

I wanted to watch Bob's Burgers, which has been removed from Netflix and put on Hulu. I attempted to sign up for Hulu, but it's not available in Australia. I tried to use a VPN to sign up for Hulu, but they saw through it.

I tried to get the show episodes on Google Play, but they had been removed.

I tried to sign up for Amazon Prime, but the prime registration site kept crashing on me.

Anyway I ended up using a VPN and streaming the show on a dubious Polish website. I was very willing to pay money, but 4 fucking megacorps did not let me. This whole process took over 2 hours. I am still mad. I just want to give the content creators money cause they made a good thing.

Reminds me of how Jay-Z pulled most of his music off of Apple Music and Spotify in order to help promote his own streaming service. Newsflash: no one is THAT desperate to listen to Jay-Z
