Donald Trump was recorded off camera saying "get me out of here" to an aide at the end of the G20 summit in Argentina, as he walked off stage even as other world leaders gathered for a photo.

The US president was also scheduled to pose for the final photos, as the meeting in Buenos Aires came to an end after a whirlwind two days.

But footage shows Mr Trump shaking hands with Mauricio Macri, the Argentinean president, before rapidly walking off stage.

Mr Macri, who stretched out a hand after him, appeared confused by the US leader's behaviour and was left alone in front of the photographers.

An aide then rushed across the stage after Mr Trump who, off camera, can be heard saying "Get me out of here."

Despite the president's wishes he did eventually return to the stage, to pose for group photos with the other world leaders.

The 72-year-old has previously made awkward blunders during photo opportunities with other dignitaries.

He briefly wandered out of a press event with Benjamin Netanyahu in 2017, only to be ushered back by staff moments later.

You can tell Trump really hates these G-events. He used to see Obama smiling, shaking hands for a few press moments and thought “I could do that” but he didn’t seem to understand outside of that one hour press window they did actually have a busy schedule and that he isn’t the centre of attention.

People will disagree with him, call out his bullshit and say no. He doesn’t like that. He thought he would be the big guy in charge but really he is just the large guy who has no experience talking at this level so he just looks like a fool.

His body language gives it all away. He looks lost and confused. His normal, loud MAGA rally style is gone. He sort of limps around like a child lost in a large store looking for their parents. Detached and desperate to be back on his golf course.

All this work is fucking boring and hard for him. He thought they just ate expensive food and posed for pictures. And he would say a few things he wanted and the other leaders would agree and boom deal done.

Stay tuned. By tomorrow, he'll be tweeting about his great successes in Argentina. The proverbial legend in his own mind.
