The subtitles for Elvish are translated, but the subtitles for Spanish are not translated. In the movies lore, Elvish is a language that can be learned by exposure to it—unlike Spanish (or any other human language for that matter) that requires learning without the use of Christmas magic.

I mean, Stranger Things is technically a Christmas-y movie. It takes place early November and has Christmas lights as a primary set piece.
