It is completely asshole design. These market themselves as a healthier option for waffles. The purpose here is to fool a shopper quickly comparing calories accords brands. 4 mini waffles as a serving size is a reasonable assumption when they are attached like this.
Guarantee that's because they would need to report that it's not zero trans fat/cholesterol if they used 4 as a serving (there is a threshold where you can call something "0 cal/fat/trans fat/etc.")
This is in violation of the new FDA food label regulation (which isn't enforced yet, but this product is using the new label design.) See highlight number 3.
