It's actually worse than that... Leave-voting MP Nadine Dorries slams May's Brexit deal because UK won’t have seats in European parliament

Just what sort sort of brain eating bacteria are there in Westminster's waters?

Let's have some Spekulatius, it's halfway to December already anyways. I can't prove it, I don't have sources, but I'm writing on the internet so what I'm about to say is on the level of peer reviewed research.

I believe that a small group in the British government, most certainly aligned with the ERG, has a vision for Britain. That is their core belief, and everything done during Brexit negotiations flows from this. If they seem to not know what they want, it is a deliberate strategy to achieve a no deal Brexit.

A hard Brexit is a splendid way of realising their vision. Yet, not even this small group believes they are simply able to demand one and get away with it. Even worse, they realise that their vision is one for the elites, and not the common man. Hence they need to convince the latter to cut off his own flesh and think it's patriotism. As such, they wish to guide the process towards a hard Brexit while pretending to work in the national interest.

The solution is to torpedo everything from the sidelines, be entirely unconstructive, and morally outraged at any deal presented to them. They are imprecise in their demands on purpose. It allows them to create a situation where they may seem as if they have a principled, if hardline, stance. In reality, it allows them to shift the goalposts at will such that they can refuse any realistically possible deal and authentically rile up opposition to any deal other than an impossible one.

If successful, this reduces the possible deals to: none. Once a hard Brexit has begun and the inevitable fallout started, the ruling government will be ousted. A deteriorating security and economic situation, of course blamed on everyone but themselves, will allow for sweeping new legislation transforming Britain into a Singapore on the Thames.

tl;dr: In the case of government, never attribute to stupidity that which can be adequately explained by greed.

Probably best to head to the Winchester and wait for this to all blow over
