My birthday is two days before Christmas. So, growing up I always had to have my parties like a week before or a week after my actual birthday. One year, I insisted I have my party on my actual birthday. Well, that worked out exa tly how you'd expect. My best friend came because that was my bro, and then the only other people to come were family. We rented out the entire skate rink (It was the mid-90s). I was obviously sad cause I didn't realize how dumb it was to have my birthday party two days before the biggest holiday of the year.

I remember getting home and going to the game room, lying on the couch and crying my eyes out with my cousin and brother doing everything they could to cheer me up.

When i was about 8 I had a birthday party where 1 person showed up out of the 20 classmates i invited, I was pretty sad but overall dealt with it well i think. 2 days later i was in class and one of my "friends" mum came up to me and demanded I tell her why I didn't invite her kid to my party and explain that she was very disappointed for being so petty, I had to explain to her that I did in fact invite her son along with the rest of the class and only 1 person decided to show up. that part hurt me more than them not showing up, the fact they had to lie to their parents about not being invited to avoid going

My birthday is right after thanksgiving. I used to not throw parties because people were doing family stuff. In middle school I decided to throw a party, and one person showed up while another girl stopped by to drop off the present then had to leave. Turns out there was another girls birthday party that week that everyone chose to go to.

My mom took that girl and I to the city and spent wayy to much money on us but she wanted me to feel better. She got our nails done, bought us matching outfits from Hollister, took us someplace that put feathers in our hair, we watched a live concert by the river, and ate tons of food. Then we went back to my house with snacks, candy, and movies.

When we all went back to school my friend who after this became my best friend bragged about my party, I had tons of people come apologize to me. I was like lol screw all of y’all and my best friend and I stayed close until I moved.
