Honestly yeah, but if you try to defend yourself and they find out, then it's truly awful and you are just as bad as the buly. People wonder why kids end up going crazy...
I remember this happening in elementary school to me, save for the suicide part. A student I was forced to sit next to would torment me verbally and physically everyday. Went to the teacher several times, even with a parent once. Nothing was ever done. Fourth grade was rough
