OP I feel for you. My mother was dying of cancer and I lived close to home. She was given less than 2 months so I was spending a lot of time with her and helping out. I was dating a girl who lived on the other side of the city. She asked me to move in but that would be adding a half hour to my 50 minute work commute and 25 more minutes to my parents house. She said I wasnt there for her enough and it was her or my mother. Take a guess who I picked. I got 3 extra months of mom time and no regrets.
Edit: more to the story. I was living with my grandfather who was 94 and is caretaker at the time and the reason I moved back closer after breaking up with another girl. So that was another reason I couldn't just leave. She was so controlling she was applying for jobs without my knowledge closer to her side of the city for me. Seriously 0 regrets on how that went down. She wondered why days after my mom and grandfather passed I did not want to be with her again.
