My dad is a rural medicine physician. The most excited I've ever seen him about his job is when he talks about how he delivered a 1lb 13oz baby, kept it alive while a medevac helicopter came to fly it to a NICU in the big city, and over time provided care to the kid long enough that he delivered that baby's own baby over 20 years later. That preemie baby now goes to the same Church as my dad. It's one of his proudest moments I think.

Neonatology is not for the faint of heart never mind being a palliative pediatrician. Those are some deep dark waters, you have to own every win.
