This is Maggie, my grandads old girl. She doesn’t get as much attention anymore but she always brings you a leaf. You can’t have the leaf, she just wants you to be proud.

My dog does that with her favorite sock toy. She picks it up, prances around, shows it too me, but doesn't let me have it. If I to manage to take it she loves fetching it, but still refuses to give it to me.

I work at a kennel that does day stays. One of our girls is a German Shepherd named Tuukka. She loves to play with the other dogs and is a really good girl about both big dogs and small dogs. We dont have toys out in the play yard because it can cause aggression is some dogs, so they usually play with each other or us. Well, the other day Tuukka was trying to get some of the bigger pups to play with her but they were too absorbed in each other. So she went and found a leaf. And brought it to them and waited. And they ignored her. So she brought it to the small dogs. And they ignored her. So she brought it to me all proud of it and I accepted it and pet her and cuddled her and told her how good a girl she was for bringing me a leaf, even if the other pups didnt appreciate it.
