I’m from around this area but born after the troubles. You hear all sorts of stories about IRA snipers given the nickname “south Armagh snipers”, they were known for using Barrett .50cals and other high power snipers. I’m glad those times are over, my dad has told me of how there were army road blocks to every road into my town and the likes. Interesting history we have in this part of the world.

South Armagh was known as bandit country, basically a no go zone for the British army.
