Ladders are a big “No” from me. Imagine trying to get down there with the flu or a sprained ankle.
EDIT: “wow how many times do you get the flu?” 🙄 How many times do you carry something up or down from your bedroom, need to pee when you’re half asleep, drink, have a moment of clumsiness, get distracted for just a second — long enough to crash to the floor? Frequently. People fall down regular straight stairs all the time, and that’s dangerous enough. Having to fight your “cute” layout in the normal course of everyday living when it only adds 30 sq ft to put in real stairs is dumb.
