My mom did this same thing when a couple had difficulty calming down their infant baby on a plane. She ended up rocking him to sleep while they dealt with their energetic 2 year old. Parents were so grateful. Several people thanked her when the plane landed.
I'm not a parent, but I can imagine it's stressful when your infant or toddler has a meltdown in a public place. You're already stressed and tired from lack of sleep and caring for your kids, and on top of that you're just trying to get errands run. It can turn into a nightmare real quick, and you probably just want to shut down because you can't get ahold of the situation, people are watching and you're losing your cool. To Tiffany it was a small gesture that didn't take a lot of effort, but to the mom it probably meant the world. Getting help like that from a stranger is the best feeling, whether you're a parent or not. We expect help from friends and family, but when it's coming from strangers it just really makes your day.
