Updated at 9:55 p.m.: Revised to reflect that the puppy was returned and suspects are still at large.

Police said a mastiff puppy two men took from a Mesquite yard has been returned to its owner.

The theft happened Saturday afternoon and was captured on surveillance video, which has been viewed online hundreds of thousands of times.

Officials said Wednesday night that the investigation into the theft suspects was ongoing. But Chipper, a 10-week-old French mastiff puppy, is home, the dog's owner wrote on Facebook.

Police didn't specify how the puppy made it back to his owner.

Police said the dog was stolen around 2:20 p.m. Saturday in the 5100 block of Milam Road, near Lawson Road and Interstate 20.
