I logged each "pet session" and how many pets each cat (Linus, Hobbes, Tommen) got per session A pet session was defined as a time when a cat approached me (not when I approached the cat), and it lasted until the cat walked away For each pet session I dropped whatever I was doing and pet the cat (about one time per second) until they decided to leave A 'zero' pet session means the cat walked over to me but walked away as I reached to pet him
Here are a bunch of other fun facts from the data (I know these would have been better off in a chart as well, but as this was my first time using Tableau it took me half a day just to get the one chart done 😎)
- the most pets given in a day to a single cat was 846 (Hobbes)
- the least pets given in a day to a single cat was 32 (Tommen)
- the most pet sessions in a day was 25 (Hobbes)
- the least pet sessions in a day was 3 (Linus)
- the most pets given in a single session was 338 (Hobbes)
- the least pets given in a single session was 0 (Hobbes & Linus each did this twice)
Session averages:
Linus: 29.5 pets per session (52 sessions total)
Hobbes: 28.5 pets per session (90 sessions total)
Tommen: 20.7 pets per session (42 sessions total)
# of 100+ pet sessions:
Linus: 7 (147.7 pets per session)
Hobbes: 6 (234.5 pets per session)
Tommen: 2 (197 pets per session)
Total pets given in the week:
4,967
Total per cat:
Linus: 1,534 (219 pets per day)
Hobbes: 2,565 (366.4 pets per day)
Tommen: 868 (124 pets per day)
The cats! (clockwise from left - Linus, Hobbes, Tommen)
funny how hobbes got the petting, but on the 6th day he dissappeared ad then tommen went from being the least petted, to becoming the highest petted, and then manage to keep a high score the day after. I suspect ensuing beef between thee two. Updates are needed.

I've found someone who's almost as needy as I am. I see you Hobbes.
