After Becoming A Pilot, Guy Flies Grandmas & Grandpas Of His Village In Their First Flight Ever

It’s easy to promise someone something, what’s hard is to actually keep that promise. Vikas Jyani of Sarangpur village, Adampur, Punjab, kept his promise and how.

After he fulfilled his dream of becoming a pilot, Vikas decided to fly the elderly residents (aged 70 and above) of his village to Amritsar. For most of these people this was their first flight ever, so, you can only imagine the happiness they must have felt.

According to TOI, his father Mahendra said that his son’s gesture is nothing less than a piligrimage. 90-year-old Bimla, who sat in a plane for the first time in her life admitted she had never dreamt of something like this. “Many people make promises to the elderly, but he kept his word,” she said.

In total, 22 residents flew to Amritsar to visit the Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh and Wagah Border. They were overwhelmed and delighted by the experience and found their co-passengers extremely helpful.

For a lot of us, taking a flight is not a big deal at all. But for these people, it was an experience of a lifetime. Kudos to Vikas for having kept his promise and bringing a smile to the faces of these 22 grandmas and grandpas!

I'm a flight attendant and I go to India all the time. Most of the passengers are first time flyers. And most come from rural poor villages. To them, it is something they never would have imagined, so it's quite memorable, especially for the elderly. A lot of them are taking selfies and sending it back to their families as they're sitting down and boarding. It really puts my western privileged life into perspective.
